THE BRONX BREWERY & BRONX LEGEND ‘CRAZY LEGS’ PARTNER UP TO SUPPORT PUERTO RICO EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

– Legendary Rock Steady Crew B-Boy, Bronx icon and Humanitarian to meet supporters at the Bronx Brewery on Thursday, Jan. 23 for donation drive –

THE BRONX, N.Y., Jan. 21, 2020 – After an earthquake devasted a still-recovering Puerto Rico, The Bronx Brewery and Richard ‘Crazy Legs’ Colón have partnered to raise funds for Colón’s relief efforts on the island, with an event planned for Thursday night.

From now until Jan. 31, the Brewery will donate 100% of Taproom sales of its Streetwise IPA to Colón’s GoFundMe project, enabling the internationally acclaimed performer and humanitarian to hand-deliver relief supplies to the people of PR and ensuring supplies go to those who need it most.

In support of the effort, ‘Legs’ will appear at the Brewery – located at 856 East 136th Street in the Bronx – from 5-8pm on Thursday.

“These are trying times, full of uncertainty in the lives of people affected,” Colon said. “We’re simply doing what we can with the support of people who can’t be on the ground with us.”

As part of Puerto Rock Steady, Colon has already traveled once to Puerto Rico since the 6.4-magnitude earthquake rocked the island on Jan. 7, leaving 250,000 people without water and electricity and shaking a country still rebuilding from Hurricane Maria.

“It’s our job as a community partner to rise up and play our part in supporting our brothers and sisters on the island,” said Brandon Espinosa, Bronx Brewery GM of Venue & Events. “CrazyLegs has shown his commitment to our people through action, so we are proud to partner with his relief effort in order to ensure that the funds raised are having a positive impact on the people of Puerto Rico.”

He’ll travel again on Friday, Jan. 24, partnering with HARPER 4 HUMANITY and Off-The-Grid Missions to bring solar lights and mobile chargers, tents and sleeping bags and basic necessities such as hygiene products and emergency backpacks.

Supporters can donate and follow his mission at https://www.gofundme.com/f/s94n37-puerto-rico-earthquake.

“This initiative is close to my heart because I feel that in order to be the best Puerto Rican you can be, you first have to focus on being a better human being,” Colon said.

The Taproom opens at 3pm on Thursday, with multiple events this weekend to further support the donation drive, featured at at thebronxbrewery.com/events.

“Help us alleviate some of the hardships faced by Puerto Ricans impacted by this devastation,” Espinosa said. “¡Puerto Rico se levanta! Pa’lante mi gente.”
